Top Things To Do In Santorini
For this week’s post we have decided to do a roundup of the best spots to see on the island. We often meet people visiting Santorini for only a couple of days and they all ask the same question: “Where should I go to say that I ‘ve seen Santorini?”
This is the answer to them and all of you who might be wondering the same thing this summer.
The order is random, mainly based on how you can combine these. This is doable if you have 2 full days on the island.
Part One: Fira-Imerovigli
Start from Fira. Fira is the center of the island (Read more about Fira here).
You will find plenty of shops to get some souvenirs from as well as a variety of restaurants. If you are looking for bars and clubs, Fira is also the place to be after midnight.
From fira you can also take the cable car down to the old port. The views are amazing, and so is the experience. From the port you can take a small boat across to the volcano and the Hot Springs.
Further up the street from the cable car in Fira, you will find Imerovigli. Imerovigli is is also nice for a walk.
Both places offer a lovely view to the caldera and the sunset if you are there in the afternoon.
Part Two: Oia-Ammoudi
So, Fira-Imerovigli is your first destination.
Traditional and romantic, Oia will make an impression on you. Here you will find the famous blue domes churches everyone is looking for. There are a few shops there as well, and many perfect spots to watch the sunset from with your significant other. Love is in the air of Oia.
Once you are there, you can also go down to the port of Ammoudi, where you can enjoy very nice seafood.
Part Three: Black Beach
Having seeing Fira, Imerovigli, Oia and Ammoudi, you are half way there.
Now for the next bit, we would suggest you visit one of the Black Sand beaches (Kamari, Perissa, Perivolos).
Kamari offers a wide range of restaurants and bars and a lovely walk along the beachside throughout the day.
Perissa and Perivolos are practically one beach with different names on each end. These are a bit better if you are looking to go swimming since the beach itself is longer and easier to walk on. Here you will find many beach bars to enjoy your cocktails.
Part Four: Akrotiri
Akrotiri an ancient city that was buried under Lava, and yes it is an impressive as it sounds. No, it is actually better than it sounds. You know that rumour has it Santorini is the lost Atlantis, right? This is where it all began.
Last but not least..is the Sunset Cruise.
You will sail along the red beach and the white beach. You get to swim in the Hot Springs and see Santorini from the level of the sea.
For the best part, you will see the sunset from the boat, near The Lighthouse. And trust us when we tell you. It is mesmerizing.
